• Blue Grotto is one of the largest cavities in Florida, reaching depths of 100 feet in places. It has been turned into a place for diving enthusiasts.
• Devil’s Millhopper State Geological Site — Formed when an underground cavern collapsed, this huge sinkhole is 120 feet deep.
• Peacock Springs State Recreation Area — Sporting six sinkholes and numerous small sinks and depressions within a 252-acre area, Peacock Springs is actually an island formed over 1,000 years ago.
• In 1981, a giant crater developed in Winter Park, Florida, swallowing a house, several cars, parts of two businesses, a community pool and a section of road, all within three days.
• In May 2009, a large sinkhole swallowed a house in Spring Hill, Florida.
