Mr. Wells has more than three decades of experience in the area of injury and insurance law, and has practiced throughout the state of Florida, with the bulk of his practice being in the West Central Florida / Tampa Bay area for 25 of his 30-plus years of practice. He has a unique perspective on personal injury cases, having represented not only insured claimants, but insurers and their insureds as well. His work originally consisted of insurance defense (for bodily injury claims as well as first party insurance issues) and bad faith matters on behalf of insurance companies. As the years went by, the focus of Mr. Wells' practice became limited to representation of personal injury victims seeking justice through litigation against the person causing them injury (rather than their insurers), and representing consumers against their own insurance companies in what are known as first party insurance cases, such as fire, storm and sinkhole damage to residences, and life and disability insurance, when an insurer fails to pay all benefits due under a policy.

Mr. Wells handles all types of personal injury cases, at both the state and federal levels. These cases include, but are not limited to, injuries caused by trucking accidents, traffic accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip or trip and falls, boating accidents, defective products, dog bites and more. He has litigated cases throughout Florida and tried cases as far north as Jacksonville, Panama City, and Tallahassee, and southward in Tampa, Bradenton and Sarasota, to as far south as West Palm. He now limits his practice to cases in the Tampa Bay and surrounding West Central Florida communities.

In his 32 plus-year legal career, Mr. Wells has worked for several firms. He was a partner at Pilka & Wells, P.A., which preceded his founding of the Wells Law Group, P.A. He was also the managing partner of several other firms, such as The Law Offices of Kim Wells; Wells, Wiggins & Perusek, P.A.; and Kim E. Wells, P.A. In addition to these, he worked for the Merlin Law Group and Butler Pappas as a Senior Associate and others as an Associate attorney early on in his legal career.

Mr. Wells is a member of The Florida Bar and admitted to the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Wells' current professional memberships include the American Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, American Association for Justice, Windstorm Insurance Network (Former Chairman-Windstorm Insurance Network's Legal Committee), Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the East Hillsborough Bar Association. He was formerly a member of the Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention, The International Association of Arson Investigators, Defense Research Institute, as well as the Manatee, Leon, and Sarasota County Bar Associations.

Outside of his legal work, Mr. Wells is active in the local community and participates in the Brandon Chamber of Commerce. He was a class member of Leadership Brandon in 2009. He has also been the Legal Advisor for the Florida State Elks Association, Inc., as well as Florida Elks Properties, Inc.

His publications include "Raising the Coverage Defense in the Bad Faith Case" found at Mealy's Litigation Report, Insurance Bad Faith, Vol. 14, #12, p.24. Mr. Wells has also prepared and presented seminar materials in the area of Insurance Bad Faith Claims Handling for both attorneys and insurance claims personnel in public seminars as well as in house seminars for insurers.
